First Impressions

Bottega Bacûr — named for the traditional Venetian wooden boat — is crafted in Veneto at the foot of the Alps. The botanical sourcing is a journey through Italy: Tuscan juniper berries, sage leaves from the Triveneto region, Sicilian lemon peel, and myrtle from the coast. Each is carefully macerated and double-distilled to produce a refined, crystal-clear gin.

Tasting

Four Italian botanicals double-distilled. The nose is bright juniper with fresh lemon zest and herbal sage. On the palate at 40%, smooth and balanced: juniper, sage, myrtle, and citrus, warming without harshness. The finish is clean and pleasantly aromatic with lingering sage.

The Bottom Line

Bottega Bacûr earns a 7 — a minimalist Italian gin where four botanicals from four regions create a portrait of the Italian landscape. The sage is the distinguishing note: herbal, warm, and unmistakably Mediterranean. Best in a G&T with Mediterranean tonic and a sage leaf, or in a Negroni. At £29, Italian elegance at an accessible price.
