Intense juniper made fresh and balmy by mountain pine, Swiss pine and mint — mild floral musk with light menthol strengthening over time

Muscat grapes giving silky touch with elegant retro-nasal cardamom and coriander sensations, nutmeg softness and cardamom elegance

Finish

Reappearance of piney juniper followed by light coriander and cardamom spiciness, ebbing muscat grape and soothing mint — long and lingering

Marconi 46 is one of those bottles that catches your eye and holds your attention. Named with a nod to Italian innovation and bottled at a punchy 46% ABV, this London Dry sits squarely in the premium bracket at £55.50 — a price point where you rightly expect craft and character in equal measure.

Style & Character

As a London Dry, Marconi 46 plays by the classic rules: juniper-forward distillation with no post-distillation additions. That 46% strength is a smart choice. It sits just above the typical 40-43% range, giving the botanicals more room to breathe without tipping into heat. In my experience, gins bottled at this strength tend to carry their aromatic complexity better, particularly when served over ice or in a long pour where dilution is inevitable.

The London Dry designation tells us the foundation is traditional, but the name and presentation suggest something with ambition — a gin that respects heritage while reaching for its own identity. At this ABV, I'd expect a clean, structured juniper backbone with enough botanical depth to reward slow sipping as much as mixing.

Best Served

I'd reach for this in a Gin & Tonic built with intention. Try it with a premium Indian tonic, a generous twist of grapefruit peel, and a single fresh shiso leaf if you can find one — the herbal, slightly peppery note of shiso plays beautifully against a well-made London Dry. Alternatively, this strength makes it an excellent candidate for a classic Martini: two-to-one with dry vermouth, stirred long, with a lemon twist expressed over the surface.

At £55.50, Marconi 46 is an investment, but the kind that earns its place on a considered shelf. A confident London Dry with the strength to back up its ambitions. 8/10.
