Tasting Notes

Nose

Birch-like juniper — cinnamon, lemongrass, coriander, cardamom, lime and grapefruit zest, the Malaysian botanicals adding exotic warmth

Palate

Smooth and full-bodied — sweet orange spice, bold juniper at the core, sweet citrus peels, bitter pith, warming spices gathering toward the finish, the Raffles Hotel collaboration producing a gin of genuine Southeast Asian character

Finish

Elegant, bright, balanced — warming spices, the Singapore Sling heritage in every sip, long and sophisticated

First Impressions

In 2015, Sipsmith's Master Distiller Jared Brown collaborated with Raffles Hotel Singapore to create a gin for the 100th anniversary of the Singapore Sling. Malaysian peninsula botanicals — jasmine, pomelo, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, nutmeg, and cardamom — join classic London Dry botanicals.

Tasting

Malaysian and London Dry botanicals. Juniper nose with lemongrass and cardamom. Full-bodied palate with citrus and warming spice. Elegant bright finish.

The Bottom Line

Sipsmith Raffles 1915 earns an 8 — a gin created for one specific cocktail's centenary, in collaboration with the hotel that invented it. Best in a Singapore Sling, naturally. At £45, cocktail history bottled.
