Tasting Notes

Nose

Punchy juniper with citrus zest — light florals lingering, clean and concentrated

Palate

Juniper at the heart with extended spice selection — citrus peels and floral notes contributing to rich lingering performance, earthy yet sweet-spiced

Finish

Spicy and lingering — the dual peppercorn additions creating complex warmth that classic London Drys cannot replicate

First Impressions

Zealot's Heart took master distiller Steven Kersley 197 tries to perfect — seventeen botanicals including both Szechuan and Sansho peppercorns, goji berries, meadowsweet and lemongrass. Distilled in BrewDog's bespoke triple-bubble copper still, the only one in existence, providing maximum copper contact.

Tasting

The nose is punchy juniper with citrus zest and light lingering florals. On the palate, juniper at the heart with an extended spice selection — citrus peels and floral notes contributing to rich performance, earthy yet sweet-spiced. The finish is spicy and lingering with complex dual-peppercorn warmth.

The Bottom Line

Zealot's Heart earns a 7 for 197-iteration commitment to getting it right. The seventeen botanicals and triple-bubble still create a gin that is simultaneously classic and intensely spicy. For juniper purists it may be too spiced; for spice lovers it is a revelation. At around £32, BrewDog's premium gin offering.
