Tasting Notes

Nose

Bright and inviting. Bold juniper leads with a lively, almost meadow-fresh quality, swiftly followed by lemon zest and a warm undercurrent of cinnamon and cassia bark. Angelica root provides a dry, grounding earthiness, while a subtle almond sweetness adds depth. The orris root lends a powdery, violet-like floral note that is quietly elegant.

Palate

Rounded and generous at 41.6%. Juniper is assured and confident, complemented by coriander seed warmth and a gentle spice from the cassia and cinnamon. Seville orange peel brings a pleasant bitterness at the mid-palate, balanced by liquorice root sweetness. The mouthfeel is notably smooth — there is a creaminess from the ground almond that gives the gin a tactile quality.

Finish

Medium-long, with juniper and warm spice persisting in equal measure. The cinnamon and cassia fade gradually, leaving behind a dry, orris-tinged elegance. Clean and well-resolved, with no rough edges.

Expert Review

8/10

In 2009, Sipsmith became the first new copper pot distillery in London for nearly two hundred years. Their London Dry is a love letter to the juniper-forward tradition — crafted with conviction and an almost evangelical respect for the form.
