Tasting Notes

Nose

Subdued pine-fresh juniper-led with delicate violet and estery aromas — frankincense quite clear, accentuating the juniper

Palate

Dry piney juniper, pilau rice and peppery spice — botanicals coating the palate nearly completely and receding glacially

Finish

Exceptionally long with radiating coolness like black pepper and a creamy note suggestive of tonka bean

Sacred is a name that carries real weight in the world of craft gin. Their London Dry Gin, now carrying B-Corp certification, represents something I find genuinely exciting — a distillery that's committed not just to quality spirit-making but to doing so responsibly. At 40% ABV and £34.95, this sits in that sweet spot where craft meets accessibility.

A London Dry With Conscience

What draws me to Sacred is their reputation for meticulous, small-batch distillation. As a London Dry, this gin must by definition derive its predominant flavour from the redistillation of botanicals — there's no hiding behind added flavourings or sweeteners here. It's a style that demands technical precision, and Sacred have long been known for their vacuum distillation method, which extracts botanical character at lower temperatures to preserve delicate, nuanced flavours that conventional pot distillation can sometimes overwhelm.

The B-Corp certification adds another layer of interest. It tells me this is a producer thinking carefully about their environmental and social impact, which increasingly matters to the drinks community. It's encouraging to see a gin brand earning that recognition while maintaining a product that stands firmly in the classic London Dry tradition.

At 7.7 out of 10, this is a gin I'd rate highly for what it represents — craft integrity paired with genuine ethical commitment. It's the kind of bottle I'd happily keep on my back bar and reach for regularly.

Best Served

A London Dry of this calibre deserves a classic Martini — two parts gin to one part dry vermouth, stirred over ice for a full thirty seconds until properly diluted and silky, then strained into a chilled coupe. A lemon twist, expressed over the surface, is all the garnish you need. If you're in the mood for something longer, a well-made G&T with a premium Indian tonic and a sprig of fresh rosemary would let the botanical character shine beautifully.
