Tasting Notes

Fresh pineapple, caramelised tropical fruit, vanilla, warm baking spice, coconut cream

Palate

Ripe pineapple, brown sugar sweetness, vanilla custard, cinnamon warmth, gentle oak, tropical fruit medley

Finish

Medium with pineapple brightness, caramel sweetness, and a clean tropical close

First Impressions

Plantation's Stiggins' Fancy takes an unusual dual-infusion approach: the distillate of Victoria pineapple rinds is blended with rum that has been infused with the pineapple fruit itself. The result is a layered, complex flavoured rum that avoids the artificial sweetness that plagues most of the category.

Tasting Notes

The nose is immediately tropical. Fresh pineapple leads, but there is a caramelised depth beneath it — like pineapple upside-down cake rather than pineapple juice. Vanilla and warm baking spice from the oak aging add complexity, and a hint of coconut cream rounds things out.

On the palate, ripe pineapple is the star but the supporting cast impresses. Brown sugar sweetness, vanilla custard, and cinnamon warmth from the base rum provide structure. Gentle oak tannins prevent it from tipping into cloying sweetness. The overall impression is balanced — genuinely tropical without feeling like a mixer.

The finish is medium, with pineapple brightness and caramel sweetness fading to a clean, warm close.

How to Drink It

Excellent neat over ice as a dessert pour, or in a tropical Daiquiri where the pineapple character amplifies beautifully with fresh lime. Also works in a twist on the classic Mai Tai.

The Bottom Line

Plantation Stiggins' Fancy earns a 7 — a flavoured rum with genuine craft credentials and a dual-infusion technique that delivers real complexity. At £32, the natural pineapple character and quality base rum offer excellent value for the category.
